Purpose of United Methodist Women

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

A member of UMW is any women who commits herself to the PURPOSE and chooses to participate in meetings prayer, giving, study, action, and/or service. Over one million women have said yes to membership in UMW. Joining this group of committed women is a unique opportunity-no matter who you are or where in your life you are at this moment-to move in harmony with other women who have been responding to this PUPOSE for over one hundred years.
