Goals for 2011
As the people of God who are Covenant United Methodist Church, we pledge to bring focus, energy and faithful intent to make our goals for 2011 come to reality. For 2011, Covenant United Methodist Church will bring concerted and focused attention to four areas of our ministry:
1. Our Goals for MISSIONS are:
a. Create a Missions/Servant Ministry List/Newsletter interpreting how and when
members may participate.
b. Have a Missions Sunday in January, 2011 to encourage at least 211 of our worshipping
members to commit to service in the calendar year.
c. Establish the following Mission priorities for the whole of the Church:
i. Global - Haiti
ii. Regional - Mountain TOP
iii. Local - Active Participation in any of the following:
1. First Works
2. Covenant Quilters
3. Caritas Village
4. Saint John's Soup Kitchen
5. Whitney Elementary
6. United Methodist Neighborhood Center
7. Grace Place
8. Church Health Center
9. Glory Words
10. LeBonheur Bunny Room
11. Angel Food Ministries
d. Redouble our commitment to Holy Community Church through:
i. Monthly Sunday Breakfast
ii. Sabbath School
iii. Other needs as they arise within the Holy Community Church.
2. Our Goals for SMALL GROUPS are:
a. Encourage all small groups to engage in mission/servant ministries initiative.
b. By January 1, form dinner groups across the Church.
c. Encourage small groups to communicate what they are studying/doing for the benefit
of possible new recruitment.
d. Offer broad based menu for study on Wednesday/Sunday nights.
e. Increase participation in small groups by at least 11% in 2011.
f. Establish viable Young Adult ministry.
3. Our Goals for EVANGELISM are:
a. Establish Prospect/New Member Orientation Class in January.
b. Host the Party on the Grove in the Spring of the year.
c. Have all worshippers wear name tags when we have joint services.
d. Establish meaningful assimilation program for new members into the life of the Church.
e. Establish a Missions/Evangelism kiosk in the narthex by January, 2011.
f. Increase average worship attendance by at least 50 people by the end of 2011.
4. Our Goals for FAMILY LIFE are:
a. Establish Church Family "Game Night" every other month, beginning
in February (Volleyball, Kickball, Board Games).
b. Schedule a Family Camp for the Spring of 2011.
c. Host Trivia Night in the Spring.
