Covenant Book Club

Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 5:30 PM. You should have plenty of time to get the book and read it! The Cordova Library has three paperback books in the Classics section and one hardback book in the Adult Fiction section.
The book club selection is Christy by Catherine Marshall (1967). She was the wife of well-known minister Peter Marshall. One of our past Associate Pastors, Lora Jean Gowan, hosted a book club and they read the book and everyone enjoyed it.
This is a historical fiction novel set in the fictional Appalachian village of Cutter Gap, Tennessee in 1912. The novel was inspired by the work of her mother, Leonora Whitaker, who taught impoverished children in the Appalachian region when she was a young, single woman. It explores faith, and mountain traditions such as moonshining, folk beliefs, and folk medicine.
