Music Ministry

9:00 a.m. Traditional Service

A formal service of worship comprising of all the elements of traditional United Methodist liturgy with Sunday services incorporating a magnificent organ with full orchestral ensemble and a chancel choir. The service is held in a beautiful English cathedral architectural style sanctuary setting. Choir and clergy robe; the opening hymn is a processional of all the participants led in with cross bearers and acolytes. Choir rehearsals take place Wednesday night’s at 6:30 p.m. Those who were brought up in a classical musical style in worship will appreciate this service as a place where tradition in worship still exists.

Our traditional worship service music features the Chancel Choir, Chancel Orchestra made up of strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion, our pianist/organist, and our Praise Team. We are unique in being a medium size church that has been blessed with the sound luxury of a full orchestra every Sunday, more than just for special services as Easter and Christmas. Many of the musicians are middle school, high school, and college-aged students, as well as adult members. We have children's singers on various occasions for special services as well as young singer musicians who are encouraged to perform as often as possible. A classical organ music tradition is still carried on at Covenant, and, as well, more contemporary music is presented in our services. Our choir consists of many who are experienced musicians, in their own right, as well as individuals who just love to sing their praises to God. Mr. Wein encourages anybody who just wants to sing, regardless of experience, to be a part of the choir.

11:15 a.m. Contemporary Service

A service that is an upbeat, media-driven worship experience. The music is modern and lead by our band and vocal worship team. The scripture and sermon are geared to life applicable ideas that we hope will strengthen your faith journey. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. If you're one who loves worship that is lively and modern, this service is for you. The Contemporary service is held in the intimate space of our Spirit Center in the Smith Covenant Center building.

Hand Bells

Hands In Praise is a beginner - intermediate handbell group at Covenant. If you can play an instrument or sing, then you have the "hidden talent" to join Covenant’s Handbell ministry! Whether ringing is new to you or you have rung previously, we need you! Whether you are youth or adult, we need you!

This group rings about every 6 weeks in the Sunday worship services. and participates in various handbell workshops and festivals. They also share the art of handbells within our community with Christmas and spring concerts.

Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings 6:45 - 8:15 p.m. in Room 106, across from the Music/Choir Room, in the Sanctuary building (see the campus map). Rehearsals are from August – May, using summer to attend handbell educational activities.

Covenant's handbell ministry is a member of the Handbell Musicians of America organization. HMA is a resource which connects handbell groups across the nation.
