Covenant Preschool/PDO
to Open for the 2020-2021 School Year
Due to low enrollment from the effects of COVID-19 the Board of Directors of our Preschool/PDO voted that due to these circumstances the school would not be able to open for the 2020-2021 school year. The Board plans for the school to reopen in the future.

Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation...the Lord is the strength of my life.

Since 1990, God has "directed the path" of Covenant Methodist Preschool / PDO and sent thousands of children ages 6 weeks through 4 year olds to our program. Covenant Preschool/PDO provides a loving Christian atmosphere with a safe, positive, happy and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow and play. Our purpose is not only to provide quality care for children, but also to prepare them for Kindergarten. Upon graduation from our Pre-K4’s class, our goal is that the children will leave Covenant with confidence and excitement to enter Kindergarten because of the educationally sound curriculum taught at Covenant by our caring and qualified staff.

Covenant’s curriculum begins in the one year old room and is designed to build year to year. Children learn the letters of the alphabet, phonics, numbers, colors & shapes appropriate for each age level. 1s & 2s have special books of the month while 3s & 4s cover certain themes. Children also learn their 5 senses and many opposite words. Sight words are learned in the 4 year old room.

Music is an important part of the Covenant day. Children wiggle, sing, play instruments and laugh their way through music time. They learn to bounce in rhythm and march to the beat. 4s are introduced to handbells and ALL enjoy making a “joyful noise"!

The curriculum also includes reinforcing what the children are learning through special days and visitors. Playtime is not ignored, as the children enjoy our playground facilities and a gymnasium. Story time and free play are a part of each day.

testimonial from a parent

"Both of my children attend the Parents Day Out program at Covenant. I wanted to put into writing how pleased I am with the Parents Day Out program. Marcy, Judy and all the staff are very welcoming to the children and make my children excited about coming to the program every week. The overall environment at Covenant Preschool is one that provides a great learning environment for the children. When I was looking for a preschool program, it was very important to me as a mother and an educator, to find one that came along side my family in the areas of academics. What I found, however, when I was looking for a placement for my daughter, was disappointment. Every Pre-K  I looked in to was simply teaching the basics: shapes, colors and letters. When I toured Covenant, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the curriculum that Covenant uses is very much ahead of any of the others in the area. Not only does the curriculum surpass the other Preschool/Parents Day out programs, but as my husband and I have been touring many private schools in the Memphis area, we have noticed that the Covenant curriculum even surpasses much of the private kindergarten curriculums as well. Here at Covenant, my daughter, who is in the four’s class, is learning sight words, reviewing her writing skills, learning how to blend letter sounds and basic math skills. This is ahead of the kindergarten programs that we have toured, as many are still reviewing letters of the alphabet and learning to write. My family and I are very grateful for the wonderful foundation Covenant Preschool is giving our children and can’t wait for our son to move into the threes and fours next year."
